Valyuu

Making a circular lifestyle attractive and accessible for everyone

Valyuu aims to create systemic change by reducing the amount of electronic waste. With their Circular Marketplace they provide people with an easy and trusted way to sell & buy pre-owned goods, especially consumer electronics. And by doing so, Valyuu encourages people and companies all over the world to give used electronics a new life.

A global environmental challenge

The issue of electronic waste (or e-waste) has escalated into a global environmental challenge. The rapid turnover of electronic devices has become the norm. As we upgrade to the latest smartphones, laptops, and gadgets, the old ones often find themselves collecting dust. This adds to the growing pile of consumer electronics being unused. To make it visual for you: an Eiffel Tower of e-waste pops up every 2 hours. That comes down to 53 million tons of e-waste per year. However, we are able to do something about this. By reselling electronics or buying a pre-owned device, everyone can actively participate in reducing the demand for new devices. This reduces the total amount of e-waste that mounts up on our planet.

It is fair to say that Valuuy’s concept is not new. Refurbished phones and laptops have been around for years. But Valyuu has a different approach that is aimed to create faster and cheaper transactions to lower the barrier for both buyer and seller. Through a transparent ‘product passport’, with detailed information about the condition of the product, unique photos and access to test reports, consumers know exactly what they are buying. This way, Valyuu ensures the best deal for both the buyer and the seller.

An attractive circular lifestyle

At Rubio we believe that Valyuu can be a game changer. The young, ambitious and diverse founder team including Ferhat Topuz (CEO), Arvin Estebadari (COO/CFO) and Jingwei Ren (CXO) have the drive to make a circular lifestyle attractive and accessible for everyone. The Valyuu platform went live in May 2023 and has already given 25,000 products a new life, with the top five being smartphones, laptops and desktop computers, smartwatches and earbuds.

If you’d like to find out more about the platform check out their website.

Ps. most importantly, we encourage you to buy and sell your second-hand devices until the device gets to the end of its lifecycle. Together we can avoid e-waste and normalize the re-use economy!
