Social IV to host first Netherlands Social Impact Trade Mission to San Francisco / SOCAP17

We are super excited to co-lead the very first Social Impact trade mission by the Netherlands. We are bringing twelve leading Dutch social enterprises to the Bay Area and to SOCAP17 (the largest social impact investor gathering on the planet) from October 8-13 to learn, network and share their experiences of growing social impact through business, the Dutch way.

We felt that the world should know that Dutch social enterprises are thriving and that the Netherlands social impact economy is gaining momentum. The way in which we aim to scale clearly measurable social impact at Social Impact Ventures NL and get rewarded based on both social and financial returns, is fairly unique and we want to share our insight with other impact investors and learn from their experiences and best practices.

Also, we also want to help leading Dutch social enterprises (including Social IV portfolio company GoodUp) grow internationally and felt that this was a great opportunity to visit a hot bed for ventures in general and the key launch pad for social ventures in the USA. We are co-organizing this trip together with Social Enterprise NL and Enviu, the Netherlands Consulate in San Francisco, Amsterdam Impact City and Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO), forming a unique private-public partnerhip, fitting for a social impact mission.

From our team, Warner is part of the host-committee and has a.o. arranged a full day of matchmaking and meetings for the participating Dutch entrepreneurs to learn more about how get big in the USA, including advisors who can help with sales, marketing, PR, fundraising and recruiting.

Willemijn is representing Social Enterprise NL and is leading a plenary session panel at SOCA17 with several of the Dutch success stories on stage, called The Netherlands Social Impact (r)Evolution: an Engine for Economic Growth.

We’ll also be visiting Stanford University and, lastly, together with our partners, we’re organizing a Dutch party at SOCAP (SF) where we present all participants, including Tony’s Chocolonely, Land Life Company, Fairphone, MoyeeCoffee, Energy Floors, The Dutch Weed Burger, People’s Pension Holding, Reflow, The Social Medwork en Dif Media.

We believe this trip emphasizes our deep commitment to Dutch social enterprises and our strong ambition to scale impact internationally while learning from other impact investors worldwide.
